Bio: Liesl Clark

Liesl Eichler Clark

Liesl Eichler Clark is deputy director of the Michigan Department of Energy, Labor, and Economic Growth, appointed to the position in January, 2008, in conjunction with Executive Order 2008-20, signed by Governor Jennifer M. Granholm. This Executive Order aligned all energy sector initiatives within one department, including the Bureau of Energy Systems and the Public Service Commission. Liesl’s area of responsibility includes these offices as well as the Land Bank Fast Track Authority. As deputy director, Liesl oversees all government-related energy sector activities to make Michigan a national leader in renewable energy, advanced energy technologies, and energy efficiency.

Liesl comes to DELEG from Governor Granholm’s office where she served as policy advisor for energy, agriculture, environment and natural resources.  Previously, she worked for the Department of Agriculture as policy advisor for renewable fuels and as legislative liaison. She also she served with the Senate Democratic Caucus as policy advisor for agriculture and environment.

Liesl has a Masters degree in Public Administration from Michigan State University, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Economy from MSU’s James Madison College.
