Ed Oberski is the Chief Executive Officer of Great Lakes Bay Michigan Works! …one of 25 independent Michigan Works! Agencies in the State…and one of about 650 similar agencies nationwide. Great Lakes Bay Michigan Works! is a consortium of the three County governments operating under the direction of the private sector driven, regional Workforce Development Board.
Ed became CEO of Great Lakes Bay Michigan Works! 5 years ago. In the 20 years prior to that, he worked with various Michigan Works! Agencies either as an inside manager, or as an outside consultant or attorney.
Under Ed’s leadership, Great Lakes Bay Michigan Works! has focused on service to area employers. Working with 1,800 employers in the Great Lakes Bay Region, the agency provided assistance in filling 5,300 job openings last year. As part of that employer service focus, Saginaw Midland Bay Michigan Works! operates No Worker Left Behind and other programs to upgrade the skills and marketability of the labor force.
Ed is a graduate of Michigan State University and the Wayne State University Law School. He is a veteran of the U. S. Coast Guard.
